Aged in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks, this sprightly malt is light and sweet, but beautifully balanced. A celebratory malt without pretension, Quest represents the Macallan’s journey and the great effort the distillery puts in sourcing the best casks worldwide. Smooth and enjoyable. This is a pretty expression and the entry-level malt for the Quest Collection.
Young aromas of dehydrated orange peels, bruised apples, and lemon rind dominate the nose with a pleasant scent of vanilla in the background surrounded by hints of cinnamon, and gingerbread.
Coating, yet refreshing. The medium-bodied expression is sharp and layered with a playful palate of rich, warm textures infused with dehydrated oranges and lime blossoms, brown spices, a bountiful brown sugar and vanilla flavor in the back-palate.
Golden apples and mild citrus fruits, brown spices, and vanilla in a medium-length aftertaste leave a very welcoming mild sweetness. The spices from the cask selection complement the young malt for a memorable dram.
The best things in life are often simple, and that’s precisely what The Macallan Quest brings to the table, a youthful fruit-scented malt adorned with well-defined oak spices. Nothing more, nothing less. Quite an accomplishment for an expression without an age statement, a real compliment to the distillery’s master blenders.
The Macallan Double Cask Gold is another stunning example of the Macallan’s malts on the younger side. Fruit, spices, and vanilla come together for a malt of great value. Not contemplative, but easy to enjoy and share. Both Quest and the Double Gold are whiskys for drinkers, not for collectors.
