The famous Lasanta is Glenmorangie’s expression for the very competitive 12-year-old category, an age-statement that includes many distilleries flagship whiskeys. Lasanta, though, is not your average single malt; it gets its fantastic color and attractive aromas from a fist aging in Bourbon casks and a finishing touch from Oloroso and Pedro Ximenes Sherry casks. What you get is a lovely, chocolaty expression oozing with honey and dried fruits.
The holiday season is here because the Glenmorangie Lasanta is all about warm winter spices. Star anise, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, allspice and a thick chocolate note invade the nose along with dried figs and raisins complemented by heartwarming caramel and toffee.
The palate adds hints of freshness to the heated nose, with citrus flavors balancing out the expression. The palate is coating and expansive, really intricate and developing as it goes through the tongue, leaving a lovely butterscotch aftertaste as it passes through.
