James Allardice, GlenDronach’s founder, gives its name to the distillery’s gorgeous 18-years-old Sherry cask aged malt. Non chill filtered and with a natural color, this nice malt matures in Oloroso casks gaining complexity and aromatic charm.
Allardice’s fruity personality is a stunner; it contrasts beautifully with the spices from the Oloroso casks, allspice, nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla. An Andalusian fiery spirit lives within this expression.
Silken smooth, astoundingly creamy and seductive with fruit, almonds, toffee and spices, mingling in the mid-palate in harmony. It’s clear that the distillery is inclined to richer malts and take great pride in their cask selection; it makes all the difference.
The caramel flavors and the exotic brown spices persist long after the fruit is long gone, in a very authentic and honest finish with an astounding purity.
GlenDronach is one of the oldest distilleries in the Highlands, and they’re married with the art of aging malts in Sherry casks. They do so very well, of course, and the Allardice is one of its finest expressions and one of the boldest too.
The 21-year-old GlenDronach Parliamant is the natural next step after the Allardice. It’s aged in PX Sherry casks, making it more luxurious and complex, but both follow the same line, nicely aligned with the distilleries mature style.
